September began with the removal of the H-Pile and lagging earth retention system and partially completing the backfill of the structure excavation.
Manhole steps were installed and slide gate rails were also installed in preparation for the slide gate diversion.
Precast stay-in-place form was prepared which will be placed on the structure once the slide gate is installed so that the top slab may be poured in place over live flow.
A partial diversion of the 66″ diameter sewer was performed and the 66″ diameter pipe was cut via wire sawing and removed from the connecting structure. A part of the pipe was reused and filled with concrete to make a diversion plug to divert flow to the 48″ connection and to the deep tunnel to allow the slide gate to be installed at the 66″ downstream opening of the structure.
